This talk covers how our understanding of rotations has matured from simple rotation matrices to Lie algebras. Topics covered include 2D and 3D rotation matrices, complex numbers, quaternions, Clifford algebras and Lie algebras.
It also gives quick examples of how some of these methods are being used in scientific computing and machine learning.
