HackerHouse Taiwan is coming to Kaohsiung in December!
The goal of HackerHouse is to bring a group of remote employees and open-source contributors to work and socialise together and connect with the local tech community in Taiwan.

Brandon is the creator and core maintainer of Protomaps, a free and open source map of the world.
In this lightning talk, he will tell us about his journey to maintaining open source projects as a job.

It's pretty common to evaluate new changes with a vibe check but that makes it difficult to really know what's up with your system. We'll talk a bit about how to build more complex apps.

This talk covers how our understanding of rotations has matured from simple rotation matrices to Lie algebras. Topics covered include 2D and 3D rotation matrices, complex numbers, quaternions, Clifford algebras and Lie algebras.
It also gives quick examples of how some of these methods are being used in scientific computing and machine learning.

Distributed systems has historically been rife with concepts that are hard grok. Even so, most concepts come from common social systems like leadership consensus and decision making processes. In this talk, we’ll explore the popular distribution consensus protocol Raft, through the lens of Elixir, which offers a powerful concurrency model for scalable distributed systems.
