In the early 2010s, sick of the rigid structure of "tables", the esoteric craft of "writing queries", and the unbearable pain of "knowing where your data is, and what shape it will have", developers everywhere flocked to the promised land of unstructured data known as NoSQL.
As time went on developers started building their own complex systems to efficiently find and reference documents; to maintain relationships between different objects; to enforce predictiable shapes in the data.
